It was very sweet of her to wear my design: Pippa Middleton favourite Misha Nonoo on her most famous fan as she shows latest collection at New York Fashion Week
Fashion designer Misha Nonoo has told how she was thrilled when Pippa Middleton stepped out wearing one of her designs.
The New York-based designer, 25, received much attention last year when Miss Middleton was spotted wearing a $345 scarlet dress from her eponymous label.
Talking about the event she told MailOnline:'It was very sweet of her to wear it, a lot of my friends wear my designs.
'I never wanted to capitalize on it at any point.'
She said that they both met on the London social scene and have been good friends ever since.
After photographs of Miss Middleton sporting the Nonoo number appeared online it was reported that Bergdorf Goodman, who carries the line, was rushing their next delivery of dresses to meet the sudden demand.
Since her outing the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker, Amanda Seyfried and Gwyneth Paltrow have become fans of the brand.
And judging by the crowds that packed into Ms Nonoo's New York Fashion Week presentation at the Standard Hotel on Tuesday it seems she is set for further commercial success.
Her very wearable womenswear line ranges from cute cable knits to flared wool skirts and smart tailored jackets in autumnal shades punctuated with flashes of military red.
The designer said that as well as her British roots the range was inspired by a trip to Russia last October.
'I went there for a wedding last year, it was my first visit there and it gave me so much inspiration,' she explained as eager spectators crammed into the space at the Standard Hotel.
Her ideas board included a 19th
century portrait of Count Vasily Alekseevich Perovsky - an imperial
Russian general and statesman - and show notes explain that she wanted
to blend 'beguiling romantic youth with noble sophistication.'
A total of twenty models took to the stage wearing day-to-evening looks. Ensembles were accessorized with low-heeled suede booties and striking Finnish raccoon Shapka hats.
The Nonoo label, which launched in 2010, is stocked by a number of retailers including Shopbop and Bergdorf Goodman.
Ms Nonoo, who was born
in Bahrain and moved to London aged ten, is married to former Etonian
and entrepreneur Alexander Gilkes. The duo currently reside in downtown Manhattan.
Asked if she would consider creating a maternity line for Miss Middleton's older sister The Duchess of Cambridge, Ms Nonoo told Styleite: 'I mean, I would of course dress her. She’s wonderful. [But] I don’t know.
'I’ll cross that bridge to maternity when I get there. I think when I get pregnant, I’ll probably start doing maternity wear. I’ll be like, ''This is getting in the way. What am I gonna wear?''
