1D goes 2D! One Direction gets a cartoon makeover for Beano charity issue
They're about to release their first movie in 3D, but One Direction got a 2D makeover in the Comic Relief issue of the Beano.
The kid's cartoon strip gave Louis Tomlinson, 21, Zayn Malick, 20, and 19-year olds Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Liam Payne a cartoon makeover for the special edition, putting them in stories with the famous spiky haired Dennis The Menace.
The boys will feature in the monthly spin-off of BeanoMAX as a tribute to the 25th anniversary of Red Nose Day.
1D goes 2D: One Direction were turned into Beano characters for the mag's Comic Relief issue
Wearing
matching bomber jackets and their teen heartthrob smiles the boys look
ready for action - but arguably Harry Styles' illustrated self looked
rather more like another boybander - Jason Orange from Take That to be
precise.Speaking about their cartoon role, One Direction said they 'were so excited when BeanoMAX wanted to feature us in their special Red Nose Day issue.'
'We've grown up with The Beano so to appear with Dennis and Gnasher themselves is incredible!'
In 3D! One Direction performed at the O2 arena on Saturday and Sunday night
Not
to be blunt: An old photo of Jessie J was clearly used for her
character, wearing the fringe she famously grew out a few months back
Dream come true: Her old style used to be very animated so becoming a cartoon was next best thing for Jessie J
Special edition: Comedian Harry Hill guest-edited the special Comic Relief issue
But One Direction aren't the only popstars to be inked on the classic magazine's pages.Jessie J, 24, and fellow X Factor alumnus Olly Murs, 29, have also been sketched by Beano illustrators, although the Price Tag singer's former blunt fringe was used for her character even though she has been wearing it in a centre-parting for the last few months.
It is the popstars' mission to record a charity single in time for Red Nose Day on March 15th, with a little help from the classic Beano characters.
Minnie The Minx, The Bash Street Kids and Roger The Dodger all make up the comic choir, helped get to the studio in time by former Doctor Who star David Tennant, 41.
The weekly edition of the children's mag was guest-edited by comedian Harry Hill, 48.
On the front cover of the comic strip - entitled The Bald Issue - the TV Burp presenter can be seen wearing a whacky face behind a hairless Dennis The Menace.
The Beano weekly's Comic Relief special comes out on March 6.
Red Nose Day takes place on Friday March 15th.
