Glee's Matthew Morrison and his girlfriend Rene Puente wear matching grunge-inspired ensembles

Some say that after a while, couples begin to resemble each other.

And as Matthew Morrison and his girlfriend of over a year Rene Puente headed to the farmer's market in LA Sunday, they were literally wearing matching grunge-inspired ensembles.

The 34-year-old Glee star touchingly held on to the 26-year-old model's hand as the lovebirds strolled along in his-and-hers plaid shirts and ripped baggy jeans.

The Broadway star appeared to have product in his hair and he curiously wrapped his neck with a jaunty grey scarf in the 60-degree weather.

Rene covered her blue plaid shirt with a cosy grey sweater, yet kept her ankles bare and wore t-strap sandals for their romantic excursion.

The polished-looking pair also matched each other's style with coinciding scarves and black-rimmed glasses at the LA premiere of Certainty last Tuesday.

Matthew especially enjoys the fact that his dark-haired ladylove is not in the same industry.

'I'm very happy. Renee's not in the industry - I need that normality. We like to stay home and cook, we're not that Hollywood,' he told Closer magazine.

The triple threat is best known for his role as teacher Will Schuester, which earned him Emmy and Golden Globe nods, and he's currently on hiatus from the fourth season while his character lobbies for the arts in Washington, DC.

Matthew, who recently modeled menswear for Mr Porter, recently recorded a second music album - a collection of Broadway standards due out February.

He is also touring the 'symphony circuit' with an all-singing, all-dancing production.

Explaining the tour, he told Mr Porter: 'I'm trying to do something different by incorporating dance.

'I'll sing for a bit then there'll be an instrumental break and I'll just bust out a whole dance. I want to be like Michael Bublé mixed with Gene Kelly.'

The acting crooner also lamented his boy band past with LMNT, calling it 'one of the biggest mistakes' he's ever made.

'It was at the height of *NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys, so I really thought I was going to make a lot of money being in a boy band,' said Morrison. 

'[But] singing and dancing to stupid, ridiculous songs didn’t feed my soul.'

Matthew will next be seen on the big screen for Glee Live! at Radio City Music Hall, which is due to be released later this year.
