Anne Hathaway makes a point in businesslike blazer as she stands up for women's rights at One Billion Rising

When it comes to the red carpet Anne Hathaway can simper with the best of them.
But the Hollywood star left the high heels and pretty dresses at home as she made a point in a businesslike blazer on Thursday.
The beauty was standing up for women's rights as part of the global One Billion Rising movement.

The Oscar nominee used some of her star clout to spread the word to end violence against women.
Anne spoke out at the West Hollywood leg of the worldwide event.

Ahead of the day Anne explained: 'I'm working on a project right now with Eve Ensler and V-Day called One Billion Rising which is focusing on ending violence against women in the world by getting people to dance.
'Right now we have 182 countries committed to dancing on Valentine's Day. So I'm going to be dancing to try to end violence against women, ' she told The Guardian.

Anne was joined at the event by veteran actress Jane Fonda and Marisa Tomei, with whom she posed for pictures.
The 30-year-old Les Miserables star, who was accompanied by her husband Adam Shulman, was attired in preppy ankle-length black trousers and a matching tailored black blazer, as well as a blue blouse.
Her short hair was brushed to the side in a simple style so as not to distract from her message.

Jane, 75, a long-time supporter of women's rights, looked amazing in an all-black ensemble that included a black jacket and black scarf wrapped delicately around her slender neck.
One Billion Rising unites women, and men, to make a stand against sexual violence.
'Today, on the planet, a billion women – one of every three women on the planet – will be raped or beaten in her lifetime,' One Billion Rising states on it's website.
'That’s ONE BILLION mothers, daughters, sisters, partners, and friends violated. V-Day REFUSES to stand by as more than a billion women experience violence.'

The organisation's pledge continued: 'On February 14th, 2013, V-Day's 15th Anniversary, we are inviting one billion women and those who love them to walk out, DANCE, RISE UP, AND DEMAND an end to this violence.
'One Billion Rising is a promise that we will rise up with women and men worldwide to say, "Enough! The violence ends now."'
Meanwhile, the One Billion Rising event in London drew a large crowd led by actress Thandie Newton, who looked cute and casual in a black long-sleeved tee with the word 'GIRL' splashed across it.
