My Kids Have Graduated High School, Now What?
My Kids Have Graduated High School, Now What?
Well, its getting to that time of year when school is coming to an end, kids will be out of school and parents will once again have them around the house (possibly 24 hours a day!). However, for some, this will be the last time, as they have now Graduated. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L8MU658
For some kids and parents, this may be a good thing. Some kids can't wait to get out of the house. And that might be good. Maybe they are very independent at this point and look at the next step, whether it be college, military, or moving out on their own, as the next important step in their life. For others, this may be the scariest time in their life.
What To Do With These Graduated Kids?
That might be a question, as many of these kids have had it really easy for the last 18 years - mom doing all of their laundry, cooking their meals, dealing with their boyfriends and girlfriends, cleaning up after them, etc. What will they do when they have to move out on their own or have a roommate in college?
How about having them use their Blogging Skills after being Graduated to help them earn great money while in school?
Being Graduated, what is the right thing to do with you child?
Well, I am not going to tell anyone what they should do with their own child. I have my own opinions, which I will share. But, I have no formal training, nor do I claim to have the right answer. There are too many variables and 18 or years of them living in your family for me to make a formal decision. However, here is my (honest..haha) opinion on things you can do:
1. Wake them up at 7:00 am the day after Graduation and tell them to get used to, they'll have to do this 5 days a week for the next 40+ years.
2. When they get up and ask what's for breakfast, point to the big thing in the kitchen and tell them "this is the fridge", this is where we keep all of the other food that doesn't come out of a package or a box. Figure it out and start making something (for everyone).
3. Once done, lead them to the other 2 big things where you put clothes (no not the dressers) and explain these complicated machines to them and tell them which buttons to push, how to measure detergent and how to fold a shirt. I realize this may take hours, but I promise they will learn once they have no socks or underwear.
4. Next, make them come out of their room with the flat screen, the Xbox, the computer, the KIDS IPAD CASE, smartphone, etc. Walk out the front door and explain that the green stuff they've been walking over to get to the bus is called grass. Much like the other steps, show them how to pull the cord, push the button or ride the mower and explain that this is how you get those cool lines in the yard.
5. Once them come in and are exhausted, tell them its now time to make dinner and that EVERYONE is hungry again and that "no, we can't just have cereal" for dinner. Again point to that big thing in the kitchen, in case they forgot where it was already!
I could name 50 more things, but I think you get the point!
So being Graduated is easy, huh? Think again kiddies, this is what you get to look forward to the rest of your life! However, if you would like to change that and start making money now, you can share all of those amazing ideas floating around in your head.
