A desperate solution! Eva Longoria settles crash case out of court just days before trial was due to begin

She had dismissed it as nothing more than a frivolous lawsuit.
But Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria has ended up settling out of court with a driver she ran into in 2010 just days before his lawsuit was due to go to trial.
Roman Gasparyan had claimed the 37-year-old lost control of her BMW and crashed into him in Hollywood, and that she had 'red and bloodshot' eyes at the scene of the incident.
According to TMZ  the settlement was announced in Los Angeles Superior Court on August 3, just 12 days before it was supposed to go to trial.
It is not clear if the staunch Democrat, who is co-chair for the Barack Obama re-election campaign, has admitted fault for the crash, as the settlement details are currently unknown.
However Mr Gasparyan and his attorney Sanjay Sobti had been adamant that they would not settle for anything less in the run-up to the case going before court.
It flies in the face of comments her representative made two years ago regarding the incident.
The spokesman said: 'According to the police report, the other driver was clearly at fault AND admitted to fault at the scene of the accident.
'Longoria’s eyes were NOT red and bloodshot.
'There is absolutely no truth to this claim, and any indications to the contrary are completely false and untrue.
'Longoria made no sudden turn, did not violate any traffic violations nor did she make any sudden lane changes.
'The other driver is clearly trying to make a case where there is none. All charges are frivolous, without merit, and will not hold up in a court of law.'
It seems her counsel decided the final point was not as clear cut as it seemed, and that she was given an alternative recommendation.

However she is surely glad the long-running legal saga is finally over.
Just three months ago Mr Sobti went to the court to ask for stiff monetary sanctions against her.
He also wanted a judge to order her to sit for a deposition, claiming she had repeatedly failed to appear for the legal proceedings.
In the filed papers he says: 'On March 15, 2012, Eva Longoria notified me that she was still too busy to attend a deposition and proposed that in lieu of an in person deposition that we schedule a telephonic deposition, a deposition via Skype or that the deposition be located at her attorney's office in Beverly Hills.
'I rejected Longoria's proposal as a telephonic or Skype deposition are not acceptable substitutes for an in person deposition and the location that I have attempted to schedule for the deposition is well within the 75 mile limitation provided for in the Civil Code of Procedure.'
Eva got in the car accident in October 2010 on Hollywood Blvd while she was driving a BMW X5, but according to the police she was not at fault.
However Mr Gasparyan filed the lawsuit for negligence days after the accident, and claims she swerved suddenly, lost control of her vehicle and hit his car.
He also claims he was hospitalized because of the accident and had to undergo a catalogue of physical examinations and treatments because of his injuries
