Springsteen's daughter buys gold medal-winning horse from London Olympics with hopes of competing in Rio
Her (Olympic medal-winning) ride is here.
Bruce Springsteen's daughter, Jessica, has bought a gold medal-winning horse from the London Olympics.
On the horse, known as 'Vinnie', she hopes to compete for on Team USA in showjumping at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Peter Charles rode Murka's Vindicat W in a jump-off to clinch the Olympic team title for Britain last month.
It was the first Team Gold for British showjumping in 60 years, Charles wrote on his Facebook page: 'I will never forget how that felt and how unbelievably proud he made me and my team feel.'
He says the 10-year-old gelding has been sold to Jessica Springsteen, a decision that has 'not come lightly'.
The departure of the horse will make way for Charles' latest investment - 'string of young horses for Rio.'
'We have had to make the decision to allow him to move to another rider. He will now be ridden by his new owner Jessica Springsteen for the USA,' he wrote.
'I wish Jessica the best of luck with him and I am sure he will make her
proud too.'
Charles added that Vinnie is 'one of the best horses I have ever ridden'. The fee paid for him wasn't disclosed but recently top class showjumpers have changed hands for as much as $8 million.
20-year-old Jessica started riding at age five and missed the cut for the U.S. Olympic equestrian team for London.
Now she has a second chance to compete, riding Vinnie all the way to Rio.
