Michael Jackson's Doctor Seeks Prison Release While On Appeal
Michael Jackson's incarcerated physician has asked to be released from prison pending an appeal of his involuntary manslaughter conviction.
Dr. Conrad Murray filed legal documents on Friday asking a judge to release him from jail, where he has spent the past three months after a jury found him guilty of administering the fatal dose of anaesthetic propofol, which cost Jackson his life in 2009.
The grounds for Murray's appeal are "improper exclusion of defence evidence and witnesses that resulted in violating the defendant's State and constitutional rights to due process, to present a defence and to the effective assistance of counsel."
Murray is asking to be released on no bail pending the result of appeal, according to TMZ.com.
He plans to live with his girlfriend Nicole Alvarez and would be willing to wear an electronic monitoring bracelet.
