Music Flashback: Michael Jackson



Clearly one of the greatest musical artists of All-Time.
This post is only about Michael Jackson and his music, not about any of the sordid allegations involving his private life. As a Singer and Entertainer, the man was undoubtedly a genius.
Michael Jackson was born in 1958 in Gary, Indiana.
From 1964-1975 he performed and toured with his brothers as part of “The Jackson 5“. From 1976-1984, he still performed with his brothers under the name “The Jacksons“.
This post will only deal with his solo work and not his successes he enjoyed with his brothers.

As a solo artist,  charted hits starting in 1971.

As a solo artist, Michael Jackson hit #1 on the Billboard Top-40 Charts with 13 Singles.

In his solo career, he charted 38 singles into the Top-40 of the Billboard Charts.
He sang backing vocals on 11 singles that other artists placed on the Billboard Charts.

During his solo career, he released a total of 10 Studio Albums.

The Album “Thriller” is the best-selling album in Music History.
He has sold over 750 Million records worldwide, making him the Most Successful Recording Artist in Music History.
He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Twice. He was inducted as part of “The Jackson 5” in 1997, and then as a solo artist in 2001.

He won 15 Grammy Awards during his career.
He won 26 American Music Awards, including an Award for Artist of the Century.

He was the first African-American Artist to receive heavy airplay of his videos on MTV. His video for the single “Thriller” is widely considered to be the greatest Music Video ever produced.
He has been inducted into 12 Different Music Halls of Fame around the Globe.
I was a huge fan of Michael Jackson’s music, especially in the period of the 1980′s. To me, he released 3 Albums in succession, “Off the Wall“, “Thriller” and “Bad” which I all consider to be classics. My personal favorite Album was “Off the Wall“, while my favorite Michael Jackson single was “Don’t stop til you get enough“.

died on June 25, 2009. He was only 50 years old and was in rehearsals for a series of London Concerts that were poised to be the most successful concerts in Music History. Everyone knows all the details surrounding his tragic death. All of that controversy can be debated on other websites and forums.
The man they called “The King of Pop” was truly a musical genius.
